TRANSIT VISA

1. A written statement with a request to issue a visa, including a trip purpose

2. A completed visa application form. (PDF document, Word document)

3. A passport size photo (color or black-white) of the applicant.

4.  Your original and valid passport, with at least one blank page for a visa. Your passport must be valid for at least six months longer than the terms of the requested visa. For example if requesting a one month visa, your passport must not expire for at least seven months. Please include a photocopy of the picture page of passport as well.

5. A money order or company check made payable to the Consulate of Kazakhstan in New York is accepted (no cash or personal checks accepted).

6. In order to receive your passport back please provide with the United States Postal Service (USPS) envelope only. Please note that the envelope must be pre-paid and self-addressed. For your convenience it is recommended to keep a tracking number of the return package so you can check the delivery status with USPS after five working days since the arrival of your request to the Consulate General. The Consulate will not accept any other type of mail (Do not send FedEx, UPS, DHL and other envelopes).
The Consulate General does not assume any liability for the loss of documents submitted or returned by regular mail.

7. A visa to the country of destination and copies of your ticket or itinerary.

8. Transit visa is valid only for 5 days (included).

Transit visa's fee is $30.00.

For American passport holders is $160.00.

NOTE: For all children under sixteen years old will be free of charge.

NOTE: Forms and documents submitted in a manner different from that of described above will not be accepted. If you apply personally or through a courier service, you and your courier must get a pick-up receipt from a visa officer. You must present this receipt to obtain your documents when they are ready.

The normal processing time for a visa request is 2-5 days. If you apply by mail, please add one day to the visa processing time. Please note that mail accepted by the Consulate of Kazakhstan are FedEX, Express Mail United States Post Service.

The Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in New York expedites the issuance of visas only when all the requirements are met. The visa processing fee is not refundable.

All foreign citizen must register at the local Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan or at the hotel within 72 hours upon arrival to Kazakhstan. Otherwise they will be fined by the Immigration Service on departure.
